Our aim with these periodic updates is to keep you informed of developments in modernist prefab. Sign up for email updates to be notified when we publish this periodic newsletter and other prefab news.

1. Feature.
  MK Architecture's Glidehouse will feature at Sunset Magazine's Celebration Weekend May 15-16 in Menlo Park, CA . In the first of a 3 part series on Glidehouse, we interview architect Michelle Kaufmann.

2. Recent additions. The following projects have been added since our last newsletter.

  Newly added to the fablist is Pinc House from Stockholm, Sweden.
  We've posted a new project by Resolution: 4 Architecture. House for Fire Island is scheduled for completion later this summer. It's a 3 bedroom home with an attached guest house.
  We have added another of the winning entries from last years SECCA Home competition. The entry from Moremas has been added to the Fabzone.
 

The fabzone now includes the Abode Concept from Modabode.

 

Edgar Blazona's MD-100 was added to the fabzone. Plans are available for purchase from ReadyMade. Edgar also has a nifty new web site.

  We added Shelter-Kit's Unit One to the fabzone after they posted more product information on their web site.
  Containerbay now also includes Four-Over-Two, a project from Seattle, Washington.
  Hannes Koppel from Keila, Estonia has undertaken some Container-based studies. We added a listing in Containerbay
  Little House has been added to the otherfab page. This tiny 64sq ft structure by Thomas Stevens is available for purchase as of March.
  We also added the patented foldable portable house to otherfab.
3. Recent updates and announcements. The following projects have been updated since our last newsletter.
 

MK Architecture announced the appearance of a fully constructed Glidehouse at Sunset Magazine's Celebration Weekend May 15-16 in Menlo Park, CA. Press Release at LiveModern

  Alchemy Architects have changed their name to Warner + Asmus and they have a new web site for their weeHouse line.
  We posted images of Adam Kalkin's container-based Quikbuild which was shown recently at Dietch Projects in NY. Thanks to fabprefab readers Antony Mott and Justin (modernlover) for the pics.
  For Containerbay fans, Chrissie Beavis sent some more images of her school project at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo.

  • The HOME House Project is back on display at Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art (SECCA) in Winston-Salem North Carolina until April 3, 2004. The show then opens April 8th at the University of North Texas at Denton.
  • Affordable Housing : Designing an American Asset will be on view from February 28 through August 8, 2004 at the Smithsonian’s National Building Museum in Washington, DC.
  • Transportable Environments 2004, 3rd International Conference on Portable Architecture and Design will be held in Toronto, Canada April 28-30, 2004. Keynote speakers include Lot/EK, Chuck Hoberman and Dr. Alberto Perez-Gomez.
