1. Feature.
Resolution: 4 Architecture

Resolution: 4 Architecture won a 2006 AIA Innovation in Housing Design Award for their modular prefab work. We take a look at a portfolio of their various projects and we interview Joseph Tanney AIA.


2. Recent additions. The following projects have been added since our last newsletter.

  The nifty Zenkaya, from South Africa, was added to the fablist.
  Ecospace contemporary garden studios from the UK are in the fabzone.
  Doors Prototype, an emergency housing prototype from Chile, is in the fabzone.
  House_07 from Milan, Italy is in the fabzone.
  The Kokon building system from Poland is in the fabzone.
  Armadillo Zen from Atelier Z in Philadelphia and Portland is in the fabzone.
  Versadome modular building system is in the fabzone.
  Mobilis Pods have been added to the fabzone.
  Deseo modular caravan from Knaus Tabbert Group in Germany is in the fabzone.
  fabschool now includes TrailerWrap - a program to rebuild a trailer home from its chassis up, using inexpensive and energy-efficient materials.
  DeMaria Design Associates Redondo Beach House is listed in ContainerBay. This project has received media coverage lately including The Los Angeles Times and CNN.
  We added Zigloo Domestique in British Columbia, Canada to ContainerBay.
  Studio320 by HyBrid Seattle was also added to ContainerBay.
  Freitag Shop Zurich is in ContainerBay.
  Domespace is listed in otherfab. This dome can rotate to follow the sun (or avoid it).
  The NEST, a small relocatable structure, is in otherfab.
3. Recent updates and announcements. The following projects have been updated since our last newsletter.
  Marmol Radziner Prefab have won several awards recently including an IDEA/BusinessWeek Silver Industrial Design Excellence Award from the Industrial Designers Society of America, a design honor award for the Desert House from AIA/Los Angeles and also honorable mention in ID Magazine’s 2006 Annual Design Review.
  Michelle Kaufmann Designs is showing a full scale Glidehouse exhibit as part of The Green House: New Directions in Sustainable Architecture and Design at the National Building Museum in Washington DC until June 3 2007.

Jennifer Siegal's Office of Mobile Design recently opened a new prefab showroom in Venice, CA. The showroom itself is an example of OMDs prefab work.

  LivingHomes have unveiled images of their completed model home in Santa Monica, CA.
  Hive Modular recently completed their first X-Line home in New Brighton, Minnesota. They have a slide show.
  The winners were recently selected in the LivingBox Prefabricated Living Unit competition based in Italy. Perhaps one day some of the design ideas will make it to market...
